Australis Pro Swash

Australis Swash is a new variant that adds to the family of Australis Pro and it brings a touch of whimsy and mannerism to the shape of the cursive letters. Its purpose is purely playful because Australis Swash has some useful Opentype features as standard ligatures, discretionary ligatures and contextual alternates to use them in headlines or as a base for brands and lettering in general.

Designed by Francisco Pizarro Glvez in 2013.

Beefcake
Beefcake treads the line of serious and playful. Just enough attitude to kick its legs over the baseline but not so much that it becomes annoying. If Beefcake had a chip on its shoulder they were knocked off as you can see by the softened corners. The angled terminals are fan favorites and the extent of its playfulness. On the other hand the strong back and hefty line weights let you know it’s willing to put in some long hours and carry a burden. Beefcake is a perfect choice for those times when the typographic personality needs to be strong, but not take itself too seriously.

This type, released by Peignot in 1901, was based on the handwriting of the art nouveau painter and designer, Georges Auriol. The Peignot drawing office insisted on a more normal appearance in the boldface, calling it Robur.

Matthew Carter has returned to Auriols original design for the whole series. The type is accompanied by the third of the three great series of type flowers, Auriols art nouveau patterns.

Auntie Pat is a new script font in my continuing objective of designing scripts that I can really use. Of course, I am looking for readability in booklets. In many ways, Auntie Pat is a very unusual script in that it has caps, lowercase, small caps with the appropriate figures for each case.
